Additional Assignments

In spring 2004, we sent out a call to Writing Program instructors requesting their materials! We asked for original lesson plans, activities, or assignment sheets that met the Writing Program criteria for assignments while addressing issues such as different literacies and learning styles, as well as issues of difference and inequality.

We received 13 wonderful submissions and are including all of them for your own use in the classroom.

Last year we took these submissions to a panel of judges who based their critiques of the assignments on issues of power and literacy. Based on their recommendations, we are pleased to announce that the 2004 winners are Claire Lauer, Nicole Quackenbush and Sue Smith.

We thank everyone for the materials that you made available to us, and encourage you to continue sharing your creativity with all of us in the Writing Program.

Below, we have included a series of links to each of the instructor's materials. At the top of each assignment are reflective paragraphs submitted by the author of the assignment. We hope that you enjoy these great submissions and find them useful for your pedagogical goals.
