Guide Cover Art Annual Contest
What is it?
A contest to design the cover art for the next edition of A Student’s
Guide to First-Year Writing, the required textbook for all 1st year
composition courses at the UofA.
First Prize= $150 and publication
Second Prize= Certificate and public recognition
Third Prize= Certificate and public recognition
Entries must
include the following:
- Artwork
suitable for book covers (9" by 6" format), not posters (i.e.,
must look good folded)
- 6 spot
graphics for section headings (winner will be asked to produce 12 more)
- Completed
entry form, submitted with artwork by February 16th, 2007
- Book title
(A Student’s Guide to First-Year Writing, 28th edition) Year (2006-2007)
- University
of Arizona Editors’ names (Andrea Modarres, Kristen Haven, and
Kelly Myers)
- Space
for ISBN bar code and Hayden-McNeil Publishing logo
- Entrants
should consider the following: a southwestern, UA, regional, or local
theme/culture; UA students and faculty as primary audience, composition
professionals (at other colleges and universities) and parents as secondary
audience.
When
are the covers due? Covers are due no later than 4 p.m. Feb.
16, 2007. Winners will be notified in late March 2007.
Where
should I turn my materials in? Turn all of these materials in
to the main English Department office, Modern Languages 445. Sign the
essay log book, listing the instructor as GUIDE.
